Discover your own Parenting Advice

Define Your own Motherhood.

Define your own Motherhood What is the best parenting advice? What is the best way to raise kids? What is the best way to handle difficult behavior? What is the best method of disciplining children? The opinions are endless. The expert advice is vast. The proof is scarce.

You may find a parenting expert who tells you to use his one an only method, then find another promoting the opposite idea. Parenting methods come in and out of style and so do parenting experts. In actuality, most sources of expert advice are based on the opinions, values and observations of those who spend much of their time in offices.

Although I might agree with many of these professionals, I also know that most have no idea what my life is like. Most of the authors of parenting books are men who have not spent one day facing the challenges that we, as moms, face day, after day, after day.

I do not intend to discredit professionals and their many good ideas. I just want you to keep in mind, as you read from huge stockpile of parenting advice, that the real expert is you!

Effective parenting requires that you get in touch with your own values. What do you want for your child? What qualities do you want to help your child develop? The answers to these questions will help you decide what parenting method will work for you.

Remember that healthy families are created by happy moms. Because of this it in everyone’s best interest that you take care of your children in ways that you can feel good about. Finding and honoring your own parenting style is important. The best source of parenting advice is you.
